Edwardian Superheroes | full site | etc etc
Shall we give them a rousing one two after tea, poppit?
Quick Notes!
- Kawaii Edwardian people get super powers
- And then World War One starts!
Setting!
- It's Edwardian England— except everyone dresses (even more) colourfully. The backdrop is usually all grey, and very rainy, but the people are born with bright-bright-bright, and rather odd hair and eye colours.
- The plot begins during the 1910 World Fair, when a rather shady scientist-doctor-occult-researcher bro decides to publicize his findings regarding “soul” “life energy” and “body.”
- SOUL is synonymous with mind, identity, and consciousness— one’s essence, essentially.
- One’s BODY is the “dying vessel that holds everything.”
- LIFE ENERGY holds the SOUL in the BODY and powers a person’s BODY like a fuel.
- Its dysfunction is catastrophic. Its manipulation and sometimes excess can lead to great power…
- BASICALLY, LIFE ENERGY is inherent in all things and helps maintain normal bodily function, and binds your soul to your body. But, when the flow go out of wack, your BODY pays the consequence.
- (SCHIZOPHRENIA/MENTAL DISORDERS, UNEXPLAINED ILLNESSES, GROWTHS)
- When you run out of LIFE ENERGY the binding between your soul and body disappears and you die.
- The scientist figured out a way to make the flow of LIFE ENERGY a more conscious thing. So, you can garner up said energy and “super power” aspects of your BODY (super strength with your muscles, super speed again with your muscles, mind-reading with your brain, psychic needles with your brain etc). You feel a tad tired/drained afterwards, so it’s not recommended for a person to use their powers for long periods of time. *___* )b
- Combine this with a working knowledge of biological functioning (as I alluded to), and you get cool shit.
- The scientist gets a lot of free volunteers for demonstration purposes! But, then on the very last volunteer, he fucks up, that person goes psycho, and wreaks a bunch of shit and the World Fair, and then *~*~*DISAPPEARS*~*~*
- The government was ashamed of this catastrophe, and decides to cover its ass by paying out everyone there, and erasing newsreports so it’s like it never happened! And, then they hunted down the scientist and destroyed his life work and his reputation!
- So, now the scientist is off to look for the psycho person, to find his old test subjects, and to regain his worth as a scientist. Oh, but the scientist is sort of a bad guy, so actually he’s seeking revenge on the government as the first World War is starting and there is turmoil everywhere!.
