Fledglings
- Flight, you see, requires two different yet equally important sorts of unburdening—that of the physical and that of the mental. Bone Hollowers tend to the physical component; with one tablet, you become light enough to sail the skies for at least three hours.
In regards to the mental component... this process is more dependent on the self
Negativity is an impossibly heavy sort of weight, heavier than you can possibly imagine. Close your eyes and think of happy things. Now, lift your feet and rise.
Quick notes
Setting
Plot
- HIGH-FLYING ADVENTURE
- AIRPLANES VROOM VROOM WORLD WAR TWO
- TALKING CLOUDS
- WE'VE GOT TO SAVE THE WORLD GAIS.
Setting
- In the sky, Clouds are produced/maintained in a steam-suspended factory city run by a guy called the Operator [diminutively the O-man].
- Those the Operator commandeers are half-mortal-- beings that age slowly and are quite difficult to kill. Half mortals only possess a part of their own souls-- the other part is signed over in contract to the Operator. Most half-mortals were ONCE human that simply chose NOT to die.
- If you work in the factory you can either be a "Bird" [in charge of surveying the skies in the guise of a bird], a "Worker" [making clouds], or a "Scientist" [technical work]. Those that cannot fly (most Workers and Scientists) are shuttled from place to place by carrier Clouds known as Ferrets (lol).
- Clouds are classified as neither living, nor non-living; they simply are. There are two parts to a cloud: the Core (which contains the Cloud's essence/ "personality") and the Fluff (which can be shaped with the help of the factory). New Cores are formed as old Cores dissintigrate from overuse. Cloud-in-trainings are known as Cloudlings and do minor jobs like drift aimlessly in the summer skies. Older Clouds create storms and bring about assorted weather stuffs.
- The main story takes place during WWII in Europe.
Plot
- The story begins due to the general bitchiness surliness of the O-man. Nobody likes him and it is sad. Then that two Cloudlings come up with a BRILLIANT IDEA to overthrow him: bring two "Earth warriors" to the skies!!! BUUUT, being retarded and failures, they kidnap two kids instead (Madeline and Gordon.)
- Needless to say the O-man gets pissed and shuts down the factory. WHICH CAN CAUSE GLOBAL WARMING. Now the kids (and their newfound sky friends) need to figure out how to fly, refind the factory, and save the world!
- AWWYEAHHH ADVENTURE.
